Training Services

Rome wasn't built in a day and neither are champions.

From the time our foals hit the ground, until they are four years old and ready for sale, they are quietly learning the things they need to know to become the champion sporthorse of every rider's dreams. We do this by utilizing our entire 90 acres for training, both inside and outside our lighted outdoor arena.

We try to expose our youngsters to as many different situations as possible, from trail rides ponied by one of our calm senior citizens, to creatively orchestrated encounters with everything from balloons to wheelchairs. We take full advantage of natural occurrences as well, like thunder or wind, and use them to further condition the kids.

Our foals are clipped for the first time during the imprinting process within hours of being born. They go on their first trailer ride while still at their mom's side.

All of the foals born at Carbondale Farms go to at least one Breed Show in their first year of life. We don't care about prizes as much as we care about the learning experience for the foals.

At two years of age, our teenagers learn to lunge and wear tack, at three they learn to walk, trot and canter under saddle, and at four they go to work or are sold.
